Position Announcement

Northville Parks and Recreation is recruiting for the following position:

TITLE: Recreation Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Recreation Superintendent - Operations

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent, assists with the planning, organizing and leading various recreational programs and events within the Parks and Recreation Department. Examples include (but not limited to): Special Events like Daddy Daughter Dance, Mother Son Dance, Tiny Pumpkins, Family Campout, Pancakes & Pajamas, American Girl Party etc. and programs such as Tuesday Concert series, and Ski Club. Assists in the promotion, marketing, and advertising of the programs/events; monitors program attendance and budgets; supervises part-time employees and volunteers; and prepares program/event reports. 

 Preferred continuing education post high school in recreation, education, marketing, or related field; minimum high school diploma.

EXPERIENCE: Preferred two years paid work experience; full-time, part-time, or seasonal in event planning, program planning or marketing.

SKILLS: Knowledge of marketing strategies and familiar with social media. Ability to create new and original events. Strong communication skills, ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the general public and with department team members. Ability to work independently. Proficient knowledge and skill in standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Ability to learn other specialized software.

COMPENSATION: Starting range: $15.00 - $17.00/hour, depending on qualifications.
